We collaborated with an interdisciplinary team on a project initiated by the Fraunhofer Institute, focusing on addressing the challenges posed by seasonal variations in power production (solar/wind) and heat demand (cold winters, warm summers). The goal was to improve the models performance by reducing the amount of data fed to it and still achive competitive results. For this we modelled the situation mathematically and evaluated existing data compression techniques as well as developed own methods to enable researchers a faster evaluation of their projects.

In this project, we looked into optimizing resource scheduling to ensure fairness in process execution within a dynamic operational environment. We tackled this challenge by defining various fairness and congestion relief measures, leveraging machine learning for predictive scheduling, and employing operations research (OR) models for metric optimization.

This project involved the creation of an interactive Geographic Information System (GIS) for precise location-based planning and execution, automated and self-optimizing SQL query generation for a high-performance planning calculation as well as UI design and user training.
